STANBOROUGH PARK
SANCTUM: WHERE DARKNESS MEETS LIGHT
A bath house located in Stanborough Park adjacent to the lake, aimed at alleviating symptoms of depressive episodes in order to tackle high levels of depression among people in the Stanborough area.

A repository of water with a symbolic bathing ritual. The process of overcoming a depressive episode is represented in the architecture: entering the building into a dark, narrow space with a low ceiling, walking through "rain" symbolic of washing away symptoms of an episode, entering a repository of water in a larger, naturally lit space with a view onto nature and the lake and finally ascending back up after the bathing ritual and leaving on a lighter note than that which the user entered upon.
